Lauren Baxter
Lauren Baxter is a glass artist based in the Highlands area of Western North Carolina. The Atlanta native holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where she developed a strong foundation in design, composition, and material exploration. Prior to relocating to the Blue Ridge Mountains, Lauren worked in television and film as a scenic artist, contributing to the creation of immersive visual environments—a background that continues to inform her sense of scale, color, and narrative.
Today, Lauren’s practice centers on glass, where she works with both fused glass and traditional stained glass techniques. Her work ranges from expressive figurative compositions to abstract pieces defined by organic forms and fluid movement. Drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of the surrounding mountain landscape, her pieces often explore the interplay of light, texture, and transparency, resulting in work that is both dynamic and contemplative.
Lauren’s work reflects a balance of technical precision and artistic intuition, bridging classical craftsmanship with a contemporary sensibility.
